Gate City losing players to Virginia High

Has anyone heard anything about Gate City possibly losing 4 Softball/ Basketball/ Volleyball players to Virginia High next year? Thats the buzz at Va.High.

All i know is, they said one was a pitcher, and the other 2 were sisters. I think 2 freshman and 1 is maybe a junior, one of the sisters. Someone also was saying the Varsity Pitcher (boys) was wanting to transfer, I know he has been traveling with some team in Bristol during the summer.

As for the boy that could very well be true. Who are these two girls sisters? I don't know of any sisters on the team besides the Odles and they are seniors. The Horner sisters don't match the given description either, they are both good and have no reason to transfer.

Can these kids just pick and go where they want? I thought they had to live in the area.

It may not be true, don't know specifics, except that since the firing of Godsey, and some other issues this year, they are looking at transfering. Not sure just that one is the pitcher, and the other 2 are sisters, not sure about the 4th one. Again it may just be a rumor, but I have been told by G.C. people that no one, not even the girls knew the Coeburn girls were transpering until right before the day before it happened.

Whoever told you that is off thier block, I saw the Odle twins all the time getting to know the GC girls and coaches and even coming to summer workouts before the school year even started.

If any athlete wants to go someplace else to play that is their right - we'll survive somehow. But if their sole reason for going is because Godsey isnt coaching any longer - hmmmm well - cya.

i agree i fought the whole godsey getting fired thing and stood up for the man, but what's done is done and we can't change that, these athletes should play for the love of the game and not for any coach.
